Sold - 1985 FJ60 w/45,000 Miles

FJ60 1985CCOT installed our HFS™ 2.5" Lift and HFS™ Barbell Shackle to make the truck stand stronger.

Below is a letter from the prior owner
describing the vehicle's history to Cool Cruisers prior to our purchase.

CCOT -

I started searching for an FJ60 low miles. The reason I painted it was because, to my financial detriment, I am somewhat of a perfectionist and the original paint job just didn’t shine as much as the ones I saw on your website. I still have photos from when I purchased the vehicle, with dates on them, that shows the interior fabric and the original paint job. There was nothing wrong with either but as I mentioned the paint didn’t shine like a new vehicle and the yellow-striped fabric was just not what I was used to (I also have a 2005 Land Cruiser and before that I had a 1990 80 Series). There is absolutely no rust on this vehicle, it has absolutely no leaks, and everything mechanical is in perfect working condition. The inside and outside are flawless. Purchased the vehicle in Jan. '05 from a broker/dealer. Had looked for years for one with low miles. Car had less than 25,000 miles on it, original miles! I was able to find the original owner (prior to the car broker getting it and selling it to me) and I called her to discuss the vehicle. I still have her name and phone number if you want to double check my investigation. I have only put about 20,000 miles on it since I bought it. Car had set up, seldom driven, at an elderly couple's home in New Mexico. They had bought it new and kept it at their vacation home. (I still have all of their original owner's materials such as the Owner's Guide, brochure, pre-delivery checklist written and signed off in Japanese, and the pre-delivery Service Menu). I believe she told me that they later moved/retired there (New Mexico). Husband died and she no longer drove. Anyway, because it had set for so long without being driven, at 26,092 miles I had a brand new, same as original, Toyota short block installed (including new belts, pump assembly, bearings, camshaft gear, crankshaft gear, gaskets, valves, thermostat, etc.)for $7,436 at Don McGill Toyota in Houston. I also had a Toyota 5-Speed Transmission (still under warranty installed by Javier Ibera, whom I believe your company knows well but if not he is the only mechanic listed on the Houston Land Cruiser Assoc.). I bought the transmission from you (Cool Cruisers of Texas) just a few months ago. So it basically now has an engine with less than 15,000 miles on it and the transmission has less than 5,000 miles on it. All mechanical work described here was done by Don McGill Toyota (one of Houston's largest Toyota dealers) and I have all receipts. Then the car was stripped down to metal and custom painted (same as original color) by Custom Car Cool in Houston ($8K). I then took out the original fabric and replaced it (seats and doors) with soft leather, I picked out the leather hides myself and had it custom fitted (not slipovers or covers). At the same time I replaced all of the dark brown vinyl with new. I added new seat padding as well. (leather, vinyl and labor came to over $2,300). Added Clarion stereo w/ CD player, replaced front speakers and added rear speakers. Installed what was an original option, shoulder seat belts for rear seat. Added an original inclinometer, new tires, gas shocks, hitch (thought I don't tow anything), and tint. A/C blows very cold and strong because his year I replaced with new Toyota expansion valve, receiver dryer and evaporator at $969. New front brake rotors, calipers, pads, axle seals, wheel bearings, master cylinders ($1,705.). There is very little on this vehicle that is not new. I also added a deep, locking center console with cup holders and had it custom painted to match the interior paint and had the same company that did my seats and doors replace the top pad with vinyl that matched the interior vinyl. I also added a lock to the glove box. When viewing the interior pics, the tan on the seats and doors is soft leather (replaced it only where the fabric was on the doors and seats). The dark brown is vinyl and it is new and same as original color. I have only used synthetic Mobil One oil. Carpet is spotless/stainless. Headliner is also very clean. No scratches, cuts or fading in the dash. This Land Cruiser is garaged both day and night. Like I mentioned above all mechanical work was done by Don McGill Toyota and I have every single receipt, even synthetic oil change receipts. Custom paint (same color as original) was done by Custom Car Cool. Leather purchased from Tandy Leather Company and custom fitted, cut and stitched by Westside Upholstery. Photos do not show, but will be included, brown carpet floor mats as well as custom fitted rubber mats (cargo area as well) and a car cover specifically for this vehicle (still in unopened box because I keep the car garaged). I've got over $43,000 in this Land Cruiser. This amount does not include typical maintenance/oil changes, which reminds me I recently had the scheduled 30,000 mile Toyota Service performed (at Don McGill Toyota)at a cost of almost $400.

The reason I’m selling it is because I am a real estate developer (develop subdivisions) and as you are probably aware, the housing market is in a major crunch right now and it will be at least 6 months before we recover.

Thanks for your interest,

Lee
